Bank

Any foreigner who stays in France for more than 3 months can open a bank account.

To open a bank account, you will have to take along the following documents:

  • A copy of a valid document proving your identity (ID, passport, residence permit)
  • A proof of address (electricity bill, rent receipt, etc…).

Cheque books are usually free of charge, unlike bank cards for which the price varies depending on the bank and the type of card. Your bank card allows you to withdraw money from all ATM/cash points that are open 24/7.
