Bank
Any foreigner who stays in France for more than 3 months can open a bank account.
To open a bank account, you will have to provide the following documents:
- A copy of a valid document proving your identity (ID, passport, residence permit)
- A proof of address (electricity bill, rent receipt, attestation from the Crous, etc…)
- Proof of your student status (enrollment certificate, certificat de scolarité) in order to qualify for student offers, if available
Checkbooks are usually free of charge, however there is generally a monthly charge for bank cards depending on the bank and the type of card. Your bank card allows you to withdraw money from all ATM/cash points that are open 24/7.
